People who aren’t from Florida may have a hard time believing this, but East Coast Beaches are wildly different from West Coast Beaches – so much so that people who enjoy one of them, may want nothing to do with the other. But to those of us who just straight up love the beach, thanks to Florida’s unique shape and location, just a few hours’ drive can cause you to experience both in the same day (and if you time it right, witnessing both sunrise and sunset over the ocean).

Florida Beach Guide: West Coast
With so many beaches and a bit of an effort to get to the beach while visiting Florida, I often get asked for beach recommendations from people visiting the state or even people who have lived here a while, so I wanted to compile my recommendations all in one place. First up: the Gulf Coast
National Parks: Gateway Arch
At a mere 66 acres, Gateway Arch National Park is the smallest National Park in the Service, and can easily be fully explored in half a day. Unlike other Parks that are difficult to get to and sometimes even harder to explore, Gateway Arch is an ideal stop by families making their way across the country on a road trip, and is even well worth it to slightly alter plans to include the visit to St. Louis for.
National Parks: Saguaro
Easy desert hikes, massive cacti, stunning views, and just the right amount of danger – the Western portion of Saguaro National Park is ideal for people short on time or families with young children.
